What the result actually says
The difference is comparison time minus reference time. A negative value means the comparison took less time; a positive one means it took more. The percentage uses the reference time as its denominator. It describes elapsed time, not a percentage increase in driving speed.
The tool parses your inputs into whole milliseconds before subtracting. A value such as 1:30.000 is 90,000 milliseconds. Displayed percentage values are rounded; the millisecond difference is exact for the entered values. Inputs with more than three decimal places, an invalid seconds field or values outside the range are rejected.
Like-for-like matters
A different circuit layout, timing method, traffic pattern, car, weather or tyre condition can change a result. A smaller time is not by itself evidence of better technique or a suitable setup change. Keep those details with the record and use appropriate instruction or engineering advice for decisions the arithmetic cannot make.
The download contains the two entered times and calculated figures, with blank spaces for your own context. Nothing is stored or uploaded, and there is no microphone, camera, GPS or timing-device integration. This page does not turn a non-competitive track day into a timed event.
